Our Featured Pet...DORRIE!!

Dorrie is a beautiful petite English Springer Spaniel mix, around 3-years-old. Dorrie's life before rescue was a dog house and a chain on a farm. Dorrie was subjected to year after year of being pregnant since she was confined with no where to escape all of the unaltered male dogs from the neighbooring farms. She is now spayed, vaccinated, heartworm negative, on flea/tick and heartworm preventative and microchipped. Dorrie is the loviest dog you will meet, sitting at your feet for hours wanting her hear scratched. She is wonderful with children, cats and dogs. This girl only weighs around 50 pounds. A fenced in yard would be best since Dorrie has a drive to run due to years of being confined. She has not run away at her foster homes house, but they feel she would if given the chance. Who We Are

Last Hope Animal Rescue, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Last Hope formed in March of 2004 as an all volunteer animal rescue group. We are ordinary people trying to save as many homeless, abused, abandoned, hard to place and neglected animals in Eastern Iowa as possible. We are not a shelter or pound. We do not have visiting hours and all of our animals are not in one location. All of the animals listed on our site live in peoples homes. All of the animals love amoung the foster homes animals and children. Since our formation we have rescued almost 500 animals and placed them in wonderful forever homes. Adopting a friend

Through November we are offering two cat adoptions for the cost of one! Adopt two fully vetted cats for $75.00!

All of our animals live in foster homes. We feel that this is a great advantage to adopting one of our dogs. We evaluate the dogs behavior on a daily basis to ensure that they are adopted into a home that is best suited for their needs. Most of our animals live in homes with other dogs as well as cats and children. If an animal needs to be adopted into a home with no other animals it will state that on their information page. We will do our very best in helping you pick out the right companion animal to add to your family. If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs or cats please call the number listed on the pets information page. All of our adoptable animals are current on vaccinations, including distemper/parvo/corona combination, rabies and bordatella. All animals are also spayed or neutered if age appropriate. During the months of April through November dogs are on heartworm preventative and flea and tick preventative. Animals are microchiped as well. An adoption fee applies to all animals and varies depending on the animal. Each animal adopted comes with 45 days of free shelter care insurance. Courtesty Listings

If you have an animal that needs to be placed in a new home you have the option of a courtesy listing. We will list your animal on this site and it will stay in your care until a new home can be found. We'll process the adoption as we would the animals that are in our foster program. Come Visit Us

Come see us at Pet Co in Cedar Rapids the 1st Saturday of each month, The Hiawatha Farmers Market the 3rd Sunday of each month and Pet Smart the 4th Sunday of each month. All events run from noon-3:00pm..
